Location: in and around Barnard Castle
Setting: Primary Schools | Full-Time | Daily Rate: £105-£110
Do you have a genuine passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Are you ready to make a lasting impact in the lives of young learners in a nurturing primary school environment?
Empowering Learning is proud to be working with a number of inclusive and supportive primary schools in and around the Barnard Castle area, and we’re on the lookout for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team.
This is a full-time position -perfect for those with a background in education who are committed to helping every child reach their full potential.

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in a school setting, ideally with previous work supporting children with SEN
  • Confident and compassionate, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children
  • Resilient and proactive, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding and child development
  • Comfortable supporting with personal care, where needed

Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Team Teach, or similar)

Responsibilities

You will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of complex and high-needs SEN, including but not limited to:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Implementing EHCP strategies in collaboration with SENCOs and teaching staff
  • Using creative and adaptive approaches to engage children in the classroom
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
