Are you looking for a fulfilling role that allows you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs?
The Supply Room is currently working with a specialist school in Canford Heath, Poole, to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Behaviour and Mental Health) to support children aged 5 to 12.

We are keen to hear from individuals with a background in
You must be reliable, resilient, and genuinely enthusiastic about working in a specialist education environment.
This position is particularly suited to those who are committed to supporting children long-term with Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those who may display challenging behaviours.
As a Teaching Assistant in this school, you will play a vital role in the classroom by supporting the class teacher and helping to create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment. You’ll work closely with individual pupils and small groups to encourage positive behaviour, support emotional regulation, and assist with academic tasks tailored to each child’s unique learning needs. Your presence will help children feel safe, understood, and empowered to reach their potential.
This position requires a great deal of patience, empathy, and emotional resilience. Understanding how to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour is crucial, as is being able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle to engage with others. You will need to adapt your communication and support strategies according to each child’s needs, working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to ensure every child receives the individual care and attention they deserve.
