JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Payroll Tax Senior Analyst, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and escalation point for all payroll tax-related activities for their assigned client(s) and non-assigned clients, as needed. You will also be focused on ensuring the accurate preparation, maintenance and reporting of timely, high quality, and accurate payroll tax information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant payroll tax experience required
  • 4-5 years of experience working with large volume payrolls and multiple legal entities
  • Experience in working in a multi-state environment
  • Experience in new hire reporting
  • Strong local tax knowledge, including employee set up and reporting strongly preferred
  • Moderate skill level in using Microsoft Office (especially Excel), required. Advanced Excel desired.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
  • Willingness for flexible scheduling to meet processing demands.
  • Strong sense of urgency, proactive approach, and a solid focus on results.
  • Understands the end-to-end tax functional processes as well as how the tax functional processes integrate with the overall end-to-end payroll processes
  • SAP Payroll experience is a plus
  • Payroll Tax Software / Mastertax experience is a plus
    This position requires periods of sitting at a desk, standing, and working on a computer.
Responsibilities

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Year-end project activities including testing, W2 balancing, file validation, and release
  • Processing of W-2 Corrections and Reissues
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for all tax-related project activity for assigned client(s) and internal team members.
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing for tax updates and system enhancements
  • Participate in tax related testing and validation during client implementation projects
  • Research and respond to complex payroll tax questions received internally or from client
  • Manage service escalations from internal and external clients
  • Manage special projects required or needed to support client ongoing delivery
  • Provide reports to clients and account team as required
  • Proactively look for resolution of potential service delivery issues
  • Help identify and implement ideas for improving processes and methodologies
  • Work with internal teams to ensure continuity of service delivery
  • Lead adherence to standard practices and client contractual commitments
  • Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to ensure proper consideration and action of regulatory and tax-impacting changes
  • Train team associates and act as Subject Matter Expert
  • Provide work direction to support resources and validate results
  • Monitor daily workflow of client team and ensure completion of activities
  • Daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations activities as needed
  • Employee tax panel setups and audits
  • Periodic auditing of client specific tax programs and tables
  • Preparation of periodic and amendment reportingOther duties, as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or manager
