Responsibilities

Finding better ways™ to provide the materials the world needs.
We are looking for a Principal Adviser – Corporate Reporting to lead our Group’s external climate reporting and disclosures. This is a critical leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for the strategy, preparation, assurance, and continuous improvement of our climate reporting — including the Annual Report, Climate Change Report, and other external disclosures.
This is a great opportunity for an individual who is strategic and influential to shape the success of this team.
In this role, you’ll be Rio Tinto’s subject matter expert in climate reporting, ensuring our disclosures not only comply with but stay ahead of current and emerging global standards including TCFD, ISSB (incl. UK SRS and ASRS), CSRD and SEC. You’ll work directly with senior leadership, including from time-to-time members of the Executive Committee (ExCo), to drive transparency, integrity, and thought leadership in climate communication.

Reporting to the Manager Portfolio Performance and Reporting, and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will:

  • Own and lead the Group’s climate-related reporting strategy and execution, ensuring alignment with global regulatory requirements and internal governance
  • Act as the primary contact to senior stakeholders, providing expert guidance and insight on all climate reporting matters
  • Drive the external assurance process for climate-related financial disclosures, ensuring accuracy, transparency and accountability
  • Proactively monitor evolving regulatory, market and assurance requirements to inform and shape Rio Tinto’s climate reporting and assurance strategy, ensuring it remains robust, forward-looking and aligned with global best practice
  • Collaborate across functions to establish clear processes and capture the necessary fata to support year-end climate disclosures, ensuring integration with broader sustainability and financial reporting requirements, including TNFD, CSRD and investor benchmarks
