Responsibilities

As the Principal Advisor Early Years, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality early years education and care across West Berkshire. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice and guidance to early years providers, schools, and settings to promote the successful implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Driving strategic planning of early years services with a particular focus on school readiness and improving outcomes for disadvantaged children.
  • Leading on the local authority’s duties in relation to provision of early years education, including the administration of free entitlement funding and participation in national developments within the sector.
  • Working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the quality of early years provision, providing support for improvement where necessary.
