Job Description

Aviation is one of the key focus sectors at AECOM, a business sector which sits within our number one rated global transportation engineering consultancy. Whilst we are already the number one aviation engineering consultancy by revenue globally, we see significant future growth potential as the sector recovers from the downturn induced by the Covid 19 outbreak. Our clients are now re-investing in their assets, to ensure they are in the right condition, but also to ensure their capacity needs of the future.
To support this growth, we are currently seeking a Principal Airport Planner to join the team. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver aviation services to airport owners/operators, airlines and transportation agencies across the globe. Our team of aviation specialists provide a fully integrated service and have the technical skills and experience to address a wide range of aviation developments which comprise a diverse mix of local, national and international projects.
We are open to locations across Manchester, Basingstoke or Croydon, working on a hybrid working pattern

READY TO PUSH THE LIMITS OF WHAT’S POSSIBLE?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Educated to degree level in aviation, planning or civil engineering related subject
  • Chartered Membership, or demonstrably approaching Chartered Membership, of a recognised professional institution
  • Experience in airport planning dealing with the assessment of capacities of airport facilities (airside, terminal and landside) and have a good understanding of ICAO and IATA ADRM standards
  • Experience in the use of modelling and simulation software such as CAST, AviPlan and AirTOP
  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD, experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D is desirable
  • A confident communicator with project management skills and client facing experience

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Aviation Advisory Team leader you will also interface directly with other team members, from graduates to Directors and with other internal global design teams
  • Contribute to and/or lead and manage the delivery of projects including airport masterplans, airport facility planning, capacity and demand analysis and simulation modelling on a variety of domestic and international projects
  • Project Manage commissions, building successful relationships with the client and key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Lead the preparation of small to medium proposals and support the production of large bids and proposals
  • Support the technical development of junior members of the Aviation Advisory and Engineering teams
