Description
Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
The Energy Capabilities Development Department of the Energy Market Authority advances the Singapore Energy Transition through developing a flexible and responsive energy system, and planning for the future energy workforce to support this.
We are looking for a Principal Analyst/Senior Principal Analyst for the Systems Capabilities Branch. You will take charge of harnessing the untapped potential of demand management in Singapore. This involves the reduction of electricity demand temporarily during peak periods, to support power system reliability and reduce instances of sustained price volatility. The role involves, but is not limited to the following:
Exploring and implementing enhancements to the demand response and interruptible load programme, which enables contestable consumers to reduce their electricity demand voluntarily when wholesale electricity prices are high or during times of system needs, in exchange for a share of the system-wide benefits;
Performing data-driven assessments to evaluate the impact of enhancements to the demand response and interruptible load programme on factors such as market fairness, market efficiency, and benefits to the power system;
Promoting participation in the demand response and interruptible load programme to industry players and government agencies; and
Exploring, designing, and implementing test-beds and pilots to unlock new use cases for demand side management.
Requirements:
We are looking for candidates with:
Relevant experience in policy development, demand management, and knowledge of the electricity market;
Strong analytical skills and the ability to dissect issues and develop coherent solutions;
Strong writing and communication skills;
The ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders; and
The ability to navigate ambiguity, challenge the status quo, and put forth new solutions.
