Description
About Allexive. Most companies have done an AI workshop or training series. They've got a pilot in flight that nobody's quite sure how to scale. They are AI-aware, and stuck. Allexive is the AI transformation arm of the Overdose Group. We turn AI-aware organisations into AI-operational ones, working with mid-market and enterprise clients across NZ and Australia by shipping working systems. The work spans three altitudes: Build. Production-grade AI systems shipped into the client's environment. PoC or multi-phase Build Sprint. AI Platform Implementation. We stand up a client team's AI operating model from the foundation up: the data layer their agents reason over, the platform in their tenancy, the context architecture their Skills and agents draw from, the starter library of those Skills and agents, and the change management that turns it into how the team works. Converts to monthly retainer. Enterprise AI infrastructure. We architect the shared AI plane the rest of a client's strategy runs on: MCP gateway, shared controls, agentic commerce protocols, vendor selection, phased build roadmap to capital committee. About the Role: The pipeline is outpacing capacity, and the technical surface area is widening across all three altitudes above. We're looking for someone to support the technical direction of the business as we scale into new markets and new services.  Day to day, that means a top-line seat on engagements: owning the technical relationship with clients through delivery, shaping new opportunities from a technical lens, and leading the work alongside our engineering capacity and delivery partners. * Production AI-Native Engineering Background: Shipped real Generative AI systems into mid-market or enterprise environments. Not demos. * Agentic Framework Expertise: Hands-on with Google ADK, Microsoft MAF, or Claude Agents SDK. Two or more is a strong signal. * Full-Stack AI Fluency: Tool use, prompt caching, structured outputs, MCP architecture, RAG patterns, and context engineering. * LLM Ops Discipline: Evals, observability, prompt versioning, safety patterns, and cost/latency optimisation in production. * Enterprise AI Infrastructure: Understands MCP gateway patterns, agentic protocols, and how to design agents for security and auditability at scale. * Core Technical Stack: Strong TypeScript/Node or Python. Cloud-fluent across AWS, GCP, or Azure, with AWS preferred. * Professional Services: Delivered across industries with enterprise clients. Commercially aware and knows when to flag scope drift. * Communication: Confidently leads senior stakeholder forums, writes with clarity under pressure, and challenges C-Suite constructively without damaging key relationships. Even better if: * Public technical writing, conference talks, or open-source contributions. If you don’t tick every single box but you are an experienced AI Engineer, we’d still love to hear from you. * Delivery (60%): Lead technical execution across all three altitudes: Build, AI Platform and Capability, and Enterprise AI infrastructure. Translate scoped problems into working software, direct the engineering capacity around you, and stay hands-on with the spiky bits. * Client relationship (20%): Own the technical relationship through delivery. Run working sessions, alignment gates, and demos. Be the person the client trusts to tell them the truth about what's working, what isn't, and what to do next. * Pre-sales (20%): Join discovery and scoping calls as Allexive's technical voice. Pressure-test feasibility, shape proposals and SOWs with the senior team, and spot engagement-shaped problems inside messy client conversations. * A senior seat at a fast-moving firm with real clients and real outcomes * Direct line into the founder and senior team, with no middle layer between you and the work or the strategy * A front-row view of NZ and AU enterprise AI transformation, across multiple industries * Salary and equity / profit-share to be agreed based on seniority. Competitive with senior eng + consulting roles in NZ * Remote-friendly within NZ, with client travel as required * Real budget for tools, models, and learning. We use what we recommend
Responsibilities
Lead the technical execution of AI builds, platform implementations, and enterprise infrastructure for mid-market and enterprise clients. Manage technical client relationships and support pre-sales activities by shaping proposals and testing feasibility.
