Job Description Provide technical leadership and project delivery support in this Principal Water Engineer role, contributing to the successful delivery of critical three waters infrastructure projects across Auckland and the wider region. You will apply your water engineering expertise across water supply, wastewater, and stormwater projects while working closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. Based in Auckland, this role offers the opportunity to work on complex infrastructure projects while strengthening client relationships and supporting the continued growth of AECOM’s Water business. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering outcomes, supporting business development, and building AECOM’s reputation as a trusted advisor across local government and major water clients. Provide technical leadership across water supply, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects Support project delivery through design governance, technical verification, risk management, and commercial delivery Build strong client and stakeholder relationships across Auckland and the wider region Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across New Zealand to deliver high-quality engineering solutions Support proposals, technical reports, and future business opportunities Mentor junior team members and contribute to team capability and growth Qualifications The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a great fit for this role. A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering or similar Ideally Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent 10+ years’ experience delivering three waters infrastructure projects, ideally within New Zealand Strong technical expertise across water supply, wastewater, and stormwater projects Strong understanding of New Zealand water and infrastructure standards Proven experience managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements Strong client relationship, communication, and stakeholder management skills Commercial awareness and experience within a consulting environment Leadership experience with mentoring and supporting junior engineers Additional Information Why you’ll love working with us Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, part-time, job-sharing and hybrid work options Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year Volunteer and representation leave Flex public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
