MAIN CLINICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.1 To provide comprehensive highly specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments and treatments for service users with complex neurological conditions using psychometric tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service users care. 1.2 To formulate, evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors, concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. 1.3 Provide and deliver detailed written reports for referrers and service users to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. 1.4 Provide expert opinion and reports on the basis of psychological assessment outcomes, including reports for diagnostic clarification, treatment planning and medico-legal purposes.
1.5 Use and interpret complex psychological measures appropriately and ethically. 1.6 Participate in MDTs, to present psychological findings and offers recommendations and psychological input. 1.7 Offer clinical input regarding mental capacity, differential diagnosis and functional versus organic presentations. 1.8 Provide specialist consultation to colleagues across Navigo and primary care regarding the interpretations and implications of neuropsychological findings.
1.9 Offer short-term evidence-based psychological interventions or recommendations for psychological care pathways where indicated, particularly in adjustment to diagnosis, mood difficulties associated with neurological illness or cognitive rehabilitation strategies. 1.10 Contribute to staff training on cognitive screening, assessment tools and recognising cognitive deficits. 1.11 Contribute to equitable access and culturally competent assessment, taking into account the service users culture, language, education, ethnicity and neurodiversity. 1.12 Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for service users and provides specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
1.13 Liaises regularly with other professionals involved with the service users care, ensuring any concerns regarding welfare or risk to self or others is passed on in a timely manner. 1.14 Provides specialist psychological advice, supervision, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to service users diagnosis, formulation and intervention plan. 1.15 Autonomously manage complex assessments caseload effectively. 1.16 Provide clinical supervision and support to other trained professionals.
1.17 Support with the development of non-qualified psychological professionals and trainees, which may include supervision, teaching or support with their continued professional development. 1.18 Participate in working groups across the organisation, when agreed with line manager, providing a psychological perspective and inputting on clinical pathways when appropriate. 1.19 To build links with local universities, representing the service when required and assist in providing clinical placements to Psychology doctorate students. 1.20 Develop positive working relationships with other local Psychology services, liaising with other Psychology professionals and promoting the service in a professional manner.
1.21 Maintaining professional registrations and accredited status where required, meeting the needs for continued professional development. 1.22 To participate in formal research, as and when required
