JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL CLOUD ARCHITECT

McKesson is looking for a talented and motivated Principal Cloud Architect to join our Enterprise Cloud Platform Technologies Services team and help us accelerate our cloud initiatives to drive trust, agility, and cloud adoption among McKesson. You will be responsible for ensuring that our cloud infrastructure meets the highest performance, security, scalability, and reliability standards. You will also work closely with other architects, developers, and engineers to deliver innovative, secure, cost-effective cloud solutions.

STARTING PAY IS BETWEEN $165,100.00 TO $220,000.00 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the organization’s business and technical requirements to design appropriate cloud solutions.
  • Develop high-level architecture and system design for cloud-based applications and services.
  • Provide guidance and best practices on cloud architecture, security, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including architects, developers, operations teams, and business leaders, to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct technical assessments and optimization reviews for existing and new cloud deployments.
  • Provide clear documentation of cloud architectures and design decisions.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the cloud domain and provide recommendations for improvement and innovation.

Qualifications/Critical Skills:

  • 10+ years of Cloud Architecture and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Solid cloud architecture design and implementation experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments
  • Knowledge of cloud design patterns and best practices for supporting cloud-based production workloads with an understanding of security, governance, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience in designing microservices-based architectures or other cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience with Azure landing zone architectures, cloud networking, security best practices, IAM, delivery pipelines, secrets management, FinOps, and observability.
  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes (AKS) and containerization technology.
  • Experience with DevOps and Agile methodology practices.
  • Experience in cloud automation, configuration management, and deployment of enterprise-scale infrastructures as code (IaC) using Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
