Description

Our client is fast-growing, mid-market organization in the distribution space that has scaled rapidly through 10 acquisitions in the last decade, including major U.S. and European expansions. With over 5,000 employees, the company has transformed from a lean startup into a high-growth global player, while maintaining its entrepreneurial, family-oriented culture.
The company’s success is driven by innovation and a strong technology backbone. As it continues scaling, the team is investing in modernizing its cloud ecosystem, transitioning from a multi-cloud environment (AWS, GCP, data center) to a unified Azure-first strategy. The focus is on building resilient, scalable systems powered by automation, microservices, and SRE best practices.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

They’re seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling next-generation cloud infrastructure. This is not just a “keep the lights on” role, you will shape the North Star architecture for cloud and SRE practices, while being hands-on where it counts.
This role sits at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and leadership. You’ll influence cross-functional teams, drive adoption of modern cloud practices, and mentor engineers while ensuring systems are reliable, scalable, and secure.
If you thrive in fast-paced, startup-like environments, enjoy solving complex challenges (like scaling systems to 10,000+ requests per minute), and want to be part of a high-growth success story, this role is for you.

  • Mentor engineering teams across service and platform layers, helping them adopt a “own what you build” developer mindset.
  • Manage relationships with cloud service providers and ensure smooth integration of cloud technologies.
  • Contribute directly to key challenges including Kubernetes orchestration, API gateway design, networking, and IAM/security.
