We are looking for a Principal Cloud Solution Architect to join our Emerging Technology Team within our Microsoft Federal organization. This mission-driven, hands-on team partners directly with U.S. Federal agencies to tackle complex operational challenges using cutting-edge Microsoft technologies. We design and deploy solutions that integrate Agentic AI, large language models (LLMs), secure cloud infrastructure, and data to accelerate decision-making, automate workflows, and enhance outcomes across diverse environments—from enterprise headquarters to remote edge locations. Collaborating side-by-side with customers, we translate mission needs into working software, rigorously validate its effectiveness, and scale successful solutions responsibly and securely. REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 7+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
  • OR equivalent experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under U.S. export control regulations, potentially under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations or the Export Administration Regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport.

ADDITIONAL/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 12+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
  • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field AND 8+ years experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years experience working in a customer-facing role (e.g., internal and/or external).
  • 6+ years experience leading technical projects.
  • Technical Certification in Cloud (e.g., Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google, security certifications).
  • 6–10+ years building production software or data/ML systems; 2+ years with LLMs/Generative AI.
  • Hands‑on experience designing and shipping agentic workflows on Azure (tool‑use, RAG, multi‑agent).
  • Proven ability to evaluate AI systems using both automated and human‑in‑the‑loop methods; can define success metrics, build golden sets, and run online experiments.
  • Working knowledge of Responsible AI practices and safety controls; can document decisions and risks for audits/reviews.
  • Proficiency with Semantic Kernel / AutoGen / LangChain, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Studio (prompt flow/evals), and vector search.
  • Solid engineering in Python and/or TypeScript/C#; CI/CD with GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps; observability with OpenTelemetry/App Insights.
  • (Nice to have) Familiarity with Azure Government environments and control families aligned to FedRAMP High / DoD IL5+; experience collaborating with Federal stakeholders on security reviews/ATOs.
  • Excellent customer discovery, communication, and documentation skills; comfortable turning mission problems into working, validated solutions.
    Cloud Solution Architecture IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
