Position Summary The Principal Communications Representative, Clean Energy and Innovation will be responsible for elevating awareness among PG&E customers, regulators, elected officials and other stakeholders - through media relations and digital content - of how PG&E is leveraging emerging technologies and technology partnerships to modernize the energy system. This includes overseeing a team that communicates how technology will better enable the grid to meet new demand from data centers, EVs and from the electrification of residential and commercial water and space heating, and cooking. This employee will communicate how PG&E is leveraging emerging technologies to dynamically manage supply and demand on the grid using battery storage, vehicle-to-grid integrations. The role will focus on educating PG&E residential and small business customers – through media relations and digital content - on what they need to know and do to successfully transition to an electric vehicle, and what it will require to set up charging for their EV at their home or business. The successful candidate will also devise strategies and tactics to educate customers about what they need to know about switching from gas to electric cooking, and home and water heating. For example, this person will work with the media to educate customers about heat pumps, electric water heaters, induction cooking and more. The role will require driving internal, external, executive, media, and/or online communications to advance PG&E’s innovative energy technologies and services with various stakeholders including customers, clients, the public, media, stakeholders, and coworkers. This role will require strong collaboration and consultation with PG&E’s functional business areas and external stakeholders to provide timely, relevant, consistent, and unified corporate information and message regarding PG&E innovation technologies. The role is hybrid working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office on average 1-3 days per week or as business needs require. Additionally, the position will require travel at least 10% of the time within the PG&E service territory. You also must be willing and able to serve in an on-call capacity as part of an emergency response team, including on nights, weekends, and holidays. Each team typically serves one week per month. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Pay Range display: $136,000 – $202,4000/year Job Responsibilities Creates strategic communication plans and provides recommendations on how to best address and align unified company communications on clean energy technology to various internal and external key issues. Drive communications around new battery energy storage system locations or expansions and the value of battery energy storage as key to a cleaner, more resilient energy future. Build communications strategy around the safety of battery energy storage facilities and impacts on local communities. Counsels and provides various PG&E’s leadership levels, functional areas, and external leaders with resources, tools, and techniques to remain current regarding challenges and opportunities affecting the company and their employees. Supports metrics to forecast, evaluate, and realign performance, goals, and objectives. Supports emergency communications. May manage and review the communications, content, usage, and user-friendliness for PG&E’s external website. Qualifications Minimum:  Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Communications, Journalism, English, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, or related discipline 10 years of job-related experience CA Class C License, or equivalent  Desired:  Ability to communicate complex issues in clear, concise, easy to understand language Energy industry experience Technology industry experience Experience in media or public relations, journalism and corporate or marketing communications Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) credential Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential Experience in coaching and counseling corporate officers and management at all leadership levels of an organization Ability to collaborate with senior management and/or corporate executives to support strategic planning and decision- making Proficient computer skills (i.e.: Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook) and experience with information systems
