Overview We are looking for a Principal Corporate Strategy Lead - Competitive Ecosystem, to drive Microsoft’s understanding of where and why competitors gain traction, and to translate those insights into strategic choices for Windows, OEM engagement, commercial motions, and long‑range planning.This role reports to the CVP of Windows Ecosystem & Engagement and operates horizontally across engineering leadership, Corp Strat, finance, commercial, and OEM partners. Responsibilities Market & Ecosystem Strategy Develop a forward-looking POV on competitor ecosystems across devices, silicon, OS, services, and developer trends. Build market scenarios, competitive theses, and strategic implications for Windows and Microsoft’s device ecosystem. Assess long-term risks to Windows share across enterprise, SMB, EDU, and consumer; model potential impact on commercial and OEM business. Signal Intelligence & Insight Synthesis Establish a multi-source signal system pulling from field, partners, telemetry, channel data, competitive reports, and customer insights. Identify structural shifts in competitor adoption—before they show up in share metrics. Synthesize early indicators into clear “so what?” frameworks that guide CVP/SVP/EVP-level decision-making. Strategy-to-Action Integration Partner with engineering, OEM, and commercial leaders to connect competitive insights directly to roadmap influence. Inform long-lead device planning with grounded competitive intelligence. Define directional strategic asks (e.g., platform investments, ecosystem requirements, device quality expectations, silicon opportunities). Executive Storytelling & Decision Support Produce concise, executive-ready strategy briefs, red-flags, and narratives that drive alignment. Develop share-defense frameworks, competitive response options, and long-range strategic recommendations. Support annual planning and corporate strategy cycles with competitive analysis and scenario modeling. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years in corporate strategy, competitive strategy, management consulting, market intelligence, or ecosystem strategy. Fluency in technology and business models, particularly device, OS, ecosystem, and commercial economics. Ability to operate with incomplete data and drive clarity in ambiguous spaces. Exceptional executive communication and narrative-development skills. Familiarity with Windows, commercial customer needs, or OEM ecosystems. Experience with telemetry, BI tools, and market/financial modeling (Power BI, Kusto, Excel). Proven ability to influence senior leaders and align cross-functional teams #W+DJOBS Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
