The Principal Data Architect is the senior technical authority for Beck’s Hybrids’ enterprise data platform. This role is responsible for designing, building, and evolving the architecture that supports the company’s data warehousing, analytics, and reporting capabilities. They guide the definition of data models, establishes governance standards, and mentor members of the Data Services team to ensure the platform is scalable, well-governed, and aligned with business needs. Data Modeling & Governance * Guide the design and maintenance of enterprise data models that serve as the single source of truth across business units. * Establish and enforce governance standards including naming conventions, data quality rules, lineage documentation, and access control policies. * Partner with business stakeholders and the Director of Data Services to define data ownership and stewardship practices. Technical Mentorship * Mentor Data Services team members on modern data engineering patterns, code review practices, and platform capabilities. * Conduct architecture reviews of data pipelines, models, and reporting solutions developed by the team. * Raise overall team proficiency through knowledge sharing, documentation, and hands-on pairing. General * Collaborate with software development, infrastructure, and external partners to ensure data platform decisions integrate with Beck’s broader technology environment. * Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures. * Perform other duties as may be required by supervisor. Job Requirements Education and training: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy. Technical Knowledge: * Deep expertise in data architecture and modeling (star schema, snowflake, lakehouse/medallion architecture). * Strong experience with cloud data platforms and ETL/ELT pipeline design and orchestration. * Proficiency in SQL and at least one data engineering language (Python, Scala, or equivalent). * Working knowledge of business intelligence platforms. * Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data catalog tools, and metadata management. * Experience migrating legacy data systems to modern cloud platforms is highly valued.  Experience: * 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or data architecture with progressive responsibility. * Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms serving multiple business units. * Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively. ** In an effort to provide a safer, drug-free workplace for employees, all full-time applicants to whom offers of employment are made must submit to a drug test and background check, subject to applicable local, state, or federal laws or regulations.
