Description: We are seeking a Principal Data & BI Architect to lead the endtoend migration of enterprise reporting from MicroStrategy to Tableau Cloud, with data products delivered on Databricks. You will define the target BI architecture and semantic layer, establish patterns and guardrails for report and dashboard development, develop process for automation and AI enablement, and drive delivery quality and performance. The ideal candidate blends handson technical depth (Databricks, Tableau, SQL) with projectlevel leadership of a technical team to achieve business goals to ensure a smooth transition without business disruption. This role is on-site (5 days M-F) in Phoenix, AZ. \n Information Security Responsibilities Promote and enforce awareness of key information security practices, including acceptable use of information assets, malware protection, and password security protocols Identify, assess, and report security risks, focusing on how these risks impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets Understand and evaluate how data is stored, processed, or transmitted, ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) Ensure data protection measures are integrated throughout the information lifecycle to safeguard sensitive information Roles & Responsibilities Own the target BI Architecture. Define the futurestate BI and semantic architecture for Tableau Cloud on Databricks, including patterns for connecting to the governed semantic layer and migration of existing report artifacts. Document architecture decisions and reference designs. Lead MicroStrategy to Tableau conversion. Orchestrate discovery, inventory, and mapping of legacy content; set conversion standards; guide teams through replatforming and rationalization; develop processes for automation including reusable templates and AI enablement. Design the semantic layer. Establish KPI, metric, and attribute definitions; model subject domains; and define publish/refresh patterns for certified data sources powering Tableau. Ensure lineage, documentation, and catalog updates are part of the flow. Ensure performance, quality, security, and governance. Optimize query plans and cache/aggregation strategies; establish validation and parity frameworks for sidebyside comparisons and quality assurance; design RBAC patterns across Databricks and Tableau Cloud; enforce content certification, promotion workflows, and usage monitoring. Enable adoption. Establish foundational capabilities for AI usage of data; run office hours and coach analysts and authors on patterns for scalable, governed selfservice in Tableau Cloud. Design and maintain the organization's data architecture, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes Develop data models, schemas, and metadata frameworks to support business requirements Establish data governance policies, standards, and best practices across the organization Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to understand data needs Optimize data storage, retrieval, and integration processes for performance and scalability Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field 5+ years of experience in data management, database design, or related roles Strong knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL), data warehousing, and ETL processes Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies Proficiency in data modeling tools and techniques Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills \n $115,000 - $159,000 a year \n We invite you to stay connected with us by subscribing to our monthly job openings alert here.
