REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

  • Deep expertise in cloud data platforms (AWS) such as services like Redshift or Snowflake
  • Strong background in data architecture patterns (data lakes, lakehouses, modern data stack)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CICD, particularly for data engineering systems, Jenkins & terraform preferred
  • Proficiency in distributed systems, data modelling, and performance optimisation
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies and batch processing frameworks
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and security best practices

Responsibilities

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

The Principal Data Platform Engineer will architect and deliver an enterprise-scale cloud data platform leveraging AWS services (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake) and modern data architecture patterns (data lakes, lakehouses, and the modern data stack). This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership to ensure performance, security, and scalability for all organizational data needs.

PURPOSE:

Lead the design, build, and optimization of the enterprise data warehouse and modern data platform on AWS, enabling scalable analytics, AI, and enterprise data solutions through best-in-class architecture, automation, and governance.

To support AI and data enablement, Nuix are building an internal Data, Analytics and AI team. This team will have the following responsibilities:

  • Design, build and operate our enterprise data platform
  • Design, build and operate integration for current and new data sources
  • Design data cleaning / governance / compliance tooling, standards and processes
  • Enable decision making with Data & Analytics capability through visualisations and tools
  • Enable team productivity with AI and data enabled tooling such as Customer-360, financial planning and beyond

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect and implement the enterprise data warehouse and supporting cloud infrastructure.
  • Apply modern data architecture patterns for scalability and flexibility.
  • Build Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) for data engineering systems.
  • Ensure reliable, repeatable deployments through automation and testing.
  • Optimize distributed systems for large-scale batch and streaming workloads.
  • Monitor, tune, and improve query performance and storage efficiency.
  • Implement data governance frameworks, metadata management, and access controls.
  • Enforce security best practices in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Partner with analytics, AI/ML, and business teams to align platform capabilities with strategic needs.
