Description
Maintain and evolve the enterprise-wide data dictionary. Ensure consistent use of data definitions across applications and services. Act as the custodian for data naming conventions, standards, and metadata. Review and suggest improvements to existing schemas for scalability and maintainability. Provide guidance on normalization, denormalization, and relationships between entities. Collaborate with developers to ensure new features adhere to enterprise schema standards. Review SQL queries from development teams for performance and standardization. Define and enforce best practices for query design, indexing, and joins. Work with DBAs to balance application needs with infrastructure constraints. Define strategies for data archiving, retention, and partitioning. Collaborate with development teams to implement archiving strategies without impacting applications. Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements. Support the BI/Data Engineering team in creating efficient data pipelines from OLTP to analytics systems. Provide input on ETL/ELT design, ensuring minimal impact on transactional systems. Help define data models for reporting and analytics use cases. At least 6-7 years of relevant experience. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent. Strong SQL expertise and deep understanding of relational database design. Experience in schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning. Familiarity with data governance practices, metadata management, and data catalog tools. Knowledge of OLTP vs OLAP systems, ETL pipelines, and BI tools. Strong collaboration skills with developers, DBAs, and data engineers. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, agile environment. Self-motivated, quick learner, and a responsive team player.
