Principal Disciplinary Officer Grade: Clerk Grade 9/10 Employment Type: Ongoing, Full-Time Salary range: $129,464 - $142,665 per annum plus superannuation Location: Gosford/Wollongong/Parramatta – please note attendance is required in Parramatta once per week for a full team landing day. An exciting opportunity has arisen within NSW Fair Trading’s Disciplinary Action Unit for a Principal Disciplinary Officer. This role will suit a lawyer, senior policy officer or a person who has deep skills in statutory analysis and drafting. This position carries out processes and drafts documents to initiate and conclude disciplinary proceedings under legislation administered by NSW Fair Trading. Your responsibilities will include: Reviewing briefs of evidence, drafting Notices to Show Cause and related documentation. Reviewing Notice to Show Cause submissions and drafting Disciplinary Action Decisions. Providing instructions to legal officers and counsel in matters that are appealed to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (and other courts and tribunals) including reviewing section 58 documents, written submissions and other relevant evidence. Attending, and contributing to, internal working groups in relation to policy development and legislative changes that impact the operations of the Disciplinary Action Unit. Collating information for, and drafting contributions to, ministerial requests for information, house folder notes, briefing notes, media requests, among others. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including investigators, inspectors, legal officers, counsel and the executive. Supervising and managing a small team. To be successful in this role you will have: Legal qualifications or other relevant experience including the ability to understand legislation and apply it. An understanding of, or experience in, reviewing investigation reports and evidence. Excellent drafting skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Knowledge of the principles of procedural fairness and natural justice. Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe products.
