This is a unique opportunity to take on a highly technical and rewarding role where your expertise will directly influence new developments and policies. As the Council’s technical expert on planning and flood risk, you’ll lead on creating strategies, guiding sustainable drainage systems and collaborating with key partners like the Environment Agency and Wessex Water. Your work will directly impact how we manage flood risk and help shape Wiltshire’s future landscape.
As a Principal Technician Officer, you’ll assess major development projects, advise on innovative flood management solutions and influence policy decisions. From negotiating with developers to representing the Council at public inquiries, you’ll balance a diverse workload with the freedom to lead on impactful projects. This is your chance to apply your expertise in engineering, environmental management or planning to solve challenges in flood risk management.
We’re looking for a Chartered Engineer or someone with equivalent extensive experience in drainage, flood management and related fields. You’ll have a strong grasp of hydrology, planning and environmental policies, alongside excellent communication and negotiation skills. With a collaborative mindset and the ability to manage complex workloads, you’ll thrive in this high-profile role that requires both leadership and technical innovation.
