Description
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the statutory body promoting Hong Kong’s external trade, is seeking an agile, motivated and committed professional to join our diverse research team. HKTDC Research, one of the largest research teams in Hong Kong, provides analysis on major trends that affecting global and Hong Kong’s trade and business environment.   Your role: * To lead a team of economists to drive research projects that are of high relevance to Hong Kong’s trade and business environment (esp. SMEs) and the Council’s business strategy; * Monitor and provide timely analysis on overseas market regulations and trade policies that affects Hong Kong’ key export industries; * Manage external consultants in undertaking commissioned research projects; * Act as spokesperson on designated topics to the public and undertakes outreach activities, such as developing workshops/seminars, and makes presentations.   Requirements: * Relevant university degree in Economics or related disciplines;  * A minimum of 15 years of working experience, with at least 10 years of proven track record in economic/trade/business research; * Ability to lead and inspire a highly competent team, preferably with 8 years in managerial and leadership role; * Strong knowledge of international trade, the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong’s business environment. Knowledge of Hong Kong’s SME operations is an added advantage; * Strong knowledge of Asian and Emerging Markets business environment is an added advantage; * Strong analytical skills and excellent writing skills in both English and Chinese; * Fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua; * Agile personality with a strategic mindset, excellent judgement, strong interpersonal and communication skills; * To undertake research trips to various markets, such as the Chinese Mainland, ASEAN, Middle East and Africa ; * Knowledge of econometric modelling and statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS) is an added advantage.   Remuneration and Benefits The successful candidate will be offered a two-year contract with prospects for renewal upon expiry. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus an appropriate contract-end gratuity. Medical benefits and annual leave will be offered.
