Job Description: Principal Design Engineer - Dry Utilities Dubai, UAE What You'll Be Doing: Prepare master plans from concept to detailed master plan stage, including HV/LV dry utility corridor space proofing, defining ROW requirements, and coordination with wet utilities, ICT, telecom, roads, transportation, landscape, and building design teams. Develop master plan reports, including demand load calculations, sizing of major equipment and circuits, selective protection coordination, and definition of tie-in point requirements, covering dry utilities and infrastructure from concept to IFC stage. Design electrical and ELV systems for STPs, RO plants, and stormwater, sewage, and irrigation pumping stations, including lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection, telecommunications, security, and fire detection and alarm systems. Prepare design reports, specifications, tender documents, and associated documentation, and secure design approvals for various project phases through coordination with clients, authorities, and sub-consultants. Review design reports and documents prepared by other consultants and issue formal design review reports with comments and recommendations. Prepare technical proposals and project estimates, conduct technical evaluations of bids, and prepare technical bid evaluation reports. Perform value engineering on technical options and prepare value engineering reports with recommendations. Respond to contractor RFIs, and review and approve key technical submittals related to electrical works and dry utilities. Utilize Civil 3D, Navisworks, BIM tools, and preferably Revit to review and verify clash analyses and resolve clashes in 3D models. Independently develop and/or supervise the design of HV, MV, and LV systems and networks for large and mega infrastructure projects, including defining project scope, preparing budgets and schedules, planning and directing the work, and reporting status. Liaise with electricity authorities (e.g., DEWA, SEWA, ADDC, SEC) to obtain power supply master plan approvals, load NOCs, LV and MV design approvals, distribution substation approvals, and to manage all related applications, NOCs, and design submissions. Act as a project or discipline lead engineer on small to intermediate projects and provide technical guidance and input to CAD designers/drafters, designers, and junior/mid-level engineers on the project. What Required Skills You'll Bring: Bachelors degree in electrical engineering from a reputable institution Minimum 12 years experience in Electrical Design of Large Infrastructure projects Recent experience of HV, MV & LV electrical design to local and international standards. Must have thorough knowledge of National Electrical Code, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA and IEC and various local authority standards in the GCC like DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, FEWA, SEC, MEDC, Civil Defense, etc. Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience on infrastructure projects understanding of the requirements for primary substations 132/11 kV, HV corridor, distribution /pocket substations, feeder pillars, MV systems up to 33kV, LV networks, calculations, and report writing skills. Shall be able to analyze the specific project requirements for greenfield, brownfield projects.
