Description

A global powerhouse within the engineering and technology space is looking to hire a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
You’ll be working within a dedicated team focused on the development and delivery of Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems. In this role, you will work on the pinnacle of engineering projects within the defence/marine sector.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in electrical system design, particularly within AC and DC low voltage distribution.
  • Strong technical judgement and ability to deliver robust engineering solutions independently.
  • Comfortable leading projects and mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines and budgets.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC level) and must hold UK nationality due to the nature of the projects. Dual nationals may be subject to additional checks.

Pay: £65,000.00-£74,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and optimisation of low-voltage electrical power systems to meet bespoke customer requirements.
  • Deliver technical outcomes across complex projects, providing direction and guidance to junior engineers where required.
  • Solve challenging technical issues using sound engineering principles and practical experience.
  • Present and explain complex technical concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support team development through coaching, mentoring, and input into performance reviews.
  • Oversee product testing and validation from initial concept through to final delivery.
  • Represent the company in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, including occasional travel to external sites.
  • Author and review key technical documentation and reports to support project milestones.
