We’re looking for a Principal Engagement Marketer to lead the strategy and execution of our engagement, reactivation, and onboarding initiatives. You’ll be at the heart of how we build long-term value with customers, owning the strategy to deepen product adoption, improve activation, and increase retention. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally to deliver high-impact campaigns, optimise the onboarding journey, and shape how we scale engagement marketing at Freetrade.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Experience & Leadership

  • 6–8 years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, retention, or engagement marketing - ideally in B2C tech or fintech environments.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale projects or campaigns end-to-end with measurable business impact.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and managing cross-functional relationships.

Strategic & Commercial Acumen

  • Ability to define strategy and execute autonomously within a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
  • Deep understanding of how onboarding and engagement contribute to broader acquisition, monetisation, and retention goals.
  • Comfortable making trade-offs, prioritising ruthlessly, and aligning work to business needs.

Execution & Problem Solving

  • A strong operator with discipline and follow-through.
  • Adept at breaking down complex problems, running tests, and shipping incrementally to drive progress.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and time management.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Skilled communicator with a clear, concise style – written and verbal.
  • Comfortable presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders using structured communication principles (e.g., pyramid principle).
  • Committed to team success and knowledge sharing.

Tools & Data

  • An expert with lifecycle tooling (Braze, Iterable, etc.) and experience using analytics platforms (GA4, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.).
  • Able to define and track relevant KPIs across the onboarding and engagement funnel.

Upskilling & Knowledge Sharing

  • Regularly share insights, updates, and learnings across the team to build capability and visibility. Raise the bar for strategic thinking, executional excellence, and continuous improvement within the marketing team
Responsibilities

Strategic Ownership of Engagement Marketing

  • Own and lead the strategy for user engagement, reactivation, and retention - grounded in data, insight, and business goals. Identify opportunities to increase lifetime value and deepen product adoption across customer segments.

Onboarding Ownership & Optimisation

  • Lead the strategy and execution of how we onboard new customers, ensuring that first experiences are seamless, supportive, and set the foundation for long-term engagement. Continuously iterate and test to improve conversion, activation, and time-to-value.

End-to-End Campaign Leadership

  • Run high-impact campaigns and experiments from inception to execution. Collaborate closely with product, design, analytics, and compliance to deliver work that is insight-driven, on brand, and on time.

Autonomous Delivery & Business Alignment

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, using your understanding of the business to prioritise and execute effectively. Ensure your work aligns with company OKRs and supports core marketing and growth objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Build trusted relationships across key teams, including product, engineering, operations, and compliance. Communicate clearly and proactively to influence decision-making and secure buy-in on strategic initiatives, using pyramid principles where appropriate.

Market Awareness & Strategic Input

  • Stay close to market shifts, competitive moves, and customer insights. Feed relevant learnings into the broader team to shape priorities and drive smarter decision-making.

Upskilling & Knowledge Sharing

  • Regularly share insights, updates, and learnings across the team to build capability and visibility. Raise the bar for strategic thinking, executional excellence, and continuous improvement within the marketing team.
