YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a highly experienced power electronics and main circuit professional to work in System Design & Technology Team at ABB, High Power division in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki.
System Design & Technology team hosts technology development experts, R&D Chief Engineers and Architects. Team runs technology studies and projects, both internally and with external parties like Corporate Research Center and universities and operates as an expert organization supporting R&D in domain specific and system level design - as well as developing product architecture. You are a recognized talent in this field of expertise capable of guiding and contribute demanding technology research and development and to support product development chief engineers and R&D teams in technical issues.

Key responsibilities:

• Developing and demonstrating use of new technologies, starting from theoretical approach down to laboratory measurements and validation of results
• Operating as a chief engineer in technology development activities
• Applying scientific principles and technology concepts and new methodologies to our products and product development projects
• Helping in steering the division’s strategic technology direction and maintaining awareness of state-of-the-art technology and market trends in the area of power electronics

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in area of power electronics or proven work experience showing exceptional competence of same level is essential
• At least five years of work experience in Senior or Principal level is relevant
• You are open-minded and willing to create a comprehensive network outside own organization
• Know-how about converter products, used and suitable technologies for industrial drive products and domain knowledge about applications where our products are used are essential
• You are fluent in written and spoken English
