Job Title Principal Engineer Common Accountabilities Apply technical expertise to help the team deliver effective and reliable solutions. Recognized for knowledge in your area and may guide Specialists and Senior Specialists. Understand how key business factors influence your area. Assess complex problems, recommend improvements, and communicate information clearly. Work independently within management guidelines. Guide projects or contribute to cross-functional initiatives. Support planning of resources and budgets while optimizing efficiency through experience and best practices. Specific Accountabilities Technical Excellence Produce reliable and efficient code following best practices for quality and security. Participate in all stages of product development, including technical requirements, feasibility studies, planning, and identifying improvements. Investigate and recommend solutions for complex software and system issues. Develop applications that are easy to monitor and operate to improve system availability. Apply coding guidelines, unit testing, and code reviews to maintain quality. Continuous Improvement Recommend ways to improve components and manage technical debt. Suggest enhancements to engineering processes for better delivery. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Engage in community events and support team development through coaching and mentoring. Share knowledge and contribute to cultural growth through participation in activities such as hackathons, conferences, and open-source projects. Must-Have Skills Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or Google). Proficiency in Terraform/Terragrunt for infrastructure automation, including registries, module versioning, and policy/test automation. Familiarity with AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) or OpenShift; Helm/Kustomize; operators such as Azure Service Operator or Crossplane. Proficiency in Python and Go for platform tooling (SDK, CLI, API integrations). Implement security best practices and compliance standards by design. Knowledge of DORA (DevOps Research and Assessment) and SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) fundamentals, including incident management. Preferred Skills Experience with event-driven automation (RabbitMQ or Kafka) and workflow engines. Familiarity with AIOps and large language models for incident triage and audit guardrails. Understanding of FinOps principles for cost optimization and resource management. Knowledge of disaster recovery and multi-region patterns, including chaos testing. Awareness of compliance frameworks and design principles.
