Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Principal Engineer – Asset Management to join our Asset Management team. Our mission is to manage existing assets for the benefit of today’s community while sustaining these assets as a positive legacy for tomorrow’s community.

AS THE PRINCIPAL ENGINEER – ASSET MANAGEMENT, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Overseeing the lifecycle management of the Council’s road, bridge and drainage assets to meet the objectives of the Council Plan and relevant strategies.
  • Leading the development of the five and ten-year capital works programs and participate in the preparation, development and review of the annual capital works program.
  • Undertaking, as needed, condition inspections for road and road related assets and project managing of external contractor work in this area.
  • Providing timely, accurate and effective specialist advice in relation to Council’s civil assets.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRE TO PERFORM THE ROLE

  • A tertiary degree Civil Engineering enabling eligibility for Membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia or equivalent. and equivalent experience and knowledge in lifecycle management of road and road related assets, bridges and drainage assets
  • Required to be registered under Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 or ability to obtain one within first three months of employment
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing Asset Management Plans, and improvement plans for road and road related assets, bridges and drainage assets.
  • Proficient in-service area planning and strong understanding of the direct link to community expectations.
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
