About the Role Middleton Group is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in our Secondary & Protection Team to lead major projects and deliver innovative, high-quality technical solutions for clients in the utility, renewable and data centre sectors. This senior role offers the opportunity to shape complex electrical design projects, mentor engineers, and champion sustainable practices that support our mission of building a cleaner energy future. What You'll Do Technical Leadership: Serve as the authority on secondary and protection of HV substation, BESS and solar design Project Delivery: Provide technical direction on multiple secondary/protection packages from concept to completion, ensuring they meet cost, quality, and safety targets Capability Development: Mentor and develop junior engineers, promote continuous skill growth, and help the team stay ahead of industry trends Business Growth: Contribute to proposals, client engagement, and market strategy to secure new work and expand our services Quality & Sustainability: Uphold engineering standards, implement best practices, and champion environmentally responsible design What You Bring Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and Chartered Engineer status Experience: 12+ years in high-voltage engineering, ideally with water and transport project experience Technical Expertise: Proven track record in HV substation secondary and protection design plus strong knowledge of large-scale solar and BESS design Leadership Skills: Able to guide multidisciplinary teams, manage complex stakeholders, and make sound, independent decisions People-Focused: Committed to fostering a collaborative, respectful culture with a growth mindset Why Middleton Group?
