Job Description What you’ll do As the Principal Engineer for Electrical - Power Electronics you will work with the engineering and product teams across GE Vernova Electrification, Renewables and Power businesses to develop technology and product roadmaps that define the disruptive future of GE Vernova’s electrical and grid technologies. You will shape and foster strategic collaborations with Universities and strategic technology / business/ external partners to drive innovative electrical and grid solutions for GE Vernova. Essential Responsibilities You will work with engineering, product and service leaders across GE Vernova to identify electrical and grid technology needs. You will work with researchers across GE Vernova Advanced Research center to identify technology trends with disruption potential for GE Vernova. You will identify strategic partners and create an electrical systems technology roadmap. You will work with external partners such as government agencies and outside business partners to define strategy and then act as an enabler for team execution. You will collaborate with these key partners and executives as well as with external partners to: Build a robust portfolio of Research programs to drive the Electrification strategy for GE Vernova with programs in engineering across GE Vernova. Shape and lead early-stage technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction. Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with our GEV businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product roadmaps and plans. Own demonstrations of new technology development in the lab to internal and external customers. Drive technology and product roadmaps to ensure our businesses have a multi-year strategic plan that is competitive. Drive the GE Vernova wide electrification, renewables and power strategy for safety, quality and productivity. Work with each business to identify priorities and strategies. Provide technical leadership across GE Vernova on disruptive technologies and market trends with a strong understanding of competition. What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications) Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering – Power Electronics or related field with a minimum of 15 years of experience or Masters in Electrical Engineering – Power Electronics with a minimum of 18 years of experience. A minimum 10 years of experience deploying electrical systems to business and production environments. A minimum 10 years of experience leading teams or large projects Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in electrical systems and grid-scale power electronics including power electronics hardware, simulation, control, protection, power converters (AC and DC), high voltage and medium voltage architectures, circuit design, semiconductors, power quality, power conditioning, sensing techniques, packaging techniques, faults, arc flash, harmonics, grid code compliance etc. Experience in lab scale development, testing and validation of power electronics hardware like, grid-scale high/medium voltage converters, controllers including DSP/FPGA, filters, relays, system simulation tools such as PLECS, Matlab/Simulink, PSCAD etc., hardware in the loop, with demonstrated ability to scale to field implementation Experience leading large research programs, writing successful R&D proposals, and demonstrated ability to take an idea from concept to a product. What will make you stand out Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary programs. Influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills; boundary-less/solution-focused approach Industrial experience in the field of electrical systems for industrial application with hands-on experience including modeling and simulation, coding and hardware. In-depth knowledge of power electronics domain fundamentals and applications with a strong technical acumen paired with an ability to understand a wide range of technology domains. Exceptional problem-solving capabilities including technical, program management and strategic aspects. Familiarity with multiple GE Vernova businesses and shown ability to leverage cross-business networks to achieve outcomes Awareness of technology in related fields such as Power systems applications, Electrical Machines and Prime Movers, Thermal Science, AI/Machine Learning etc. Shown ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment.
