Description:

LSEG is on the lookout for a passionate Principal Engineer to join our hard-working team and contribute to the development of Java based applications in our AWS environments within Capital Market Data Solutions.

The role covers software engineering processes across CMDF, this includes low level design work across multiple engineering pillars including DevOps (e.g Terraform and CICD deployment pipelines), Applications (e.g. Kafka, Flink, etc), QA Automation (e.g. testing framework). Act as a software engineering excellence subject matter expert, working as an IC to influence the whole team, focusing on processes and ways of working to generate efficiencies in the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a forum, contributing to the design, development and maintenance of new products & features
  • Oversee and advise design teams to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, economic, practical and innovative solutions to a range of projects
  • Provide expert professional advice, as a software engineering SME, influencing standards and policies adopted in Data Solutions
  • Orchestrating the design and implementation of development standards
  • Operate collaboratively with the wider team (including other developers, ADMs, QA engineers, DevOps, BAs, etc)
  • Solves technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity for their sub-department
  • Looks for innovation opportunities between several teams with a willingness to experiment and to boldly confront problems of large complexity and scope.
  • Guides conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration across teams.
  • Provides a point of escalation for sub-department teams facing sophisticated technical challenges.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the engineering standards and way of working in CM Technology and Data Solutions internally

Requirements:

  • Java, Spring, Gradle: Craft resilient and scalable Java applications, using frameworks such as Spring
  • Kafka & Kafka Connect: Drive innovation with Kafka and Kafka Connect for smooth data streaming processes
  • AWS Mastery: Apply expertise in AWS services, including MSK, S3, EC2, and Lambda, to create a robust infrastructure
  • Continuous Integration: Contribute to our agile environment with Jenkins or Puppet for CI/CD
  • Snowflake and Matillion: Understanding of how the whole ecosystem works, including Data Engineering and Snowflake as a database
  • Knowledge of how EQ Trading operates, including Orderbook, Turquoise and TradEcho
  • Knowledge of how FX Trading operates for Spot and Derivatives
  • Subject matter knowledge of AWS technologies and Object Oriented coding standards (preferably Java)
