Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Contributes to the overall success of Tangerine Engineering ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Lead multiple Scotia digital platforms, advice and executes the platform vision along the team by closely working with the senior architects and leadership team.
  • Mentor technical leads and high potentials software engineers by providing stretch-goals , feedback through design reviews or code reviews
  • Participates on defining long term strategic digital architecture (Mobile/Web/Microservices) to ensure solutions meet current and future requirements.
  • Remain delivery focused and help the team to resolve technical impediments.
  • Influence product roadmap by working closely with product team and by providing technical insights and suggestions.
  • Refine SDLC governance process and guidelines/practices for Scotia digital platforms.
  • Champion application security best practices and lead security of mobile, web and API applications including all elements of development.
  • Help to raise overall skill and quality level through pairing, design/code reviews, documentation and mentoring.
  • Push forward our testing processes including unit, integration, functional, non-functional and security testing.
  • Champion application code shareability, reusability, and modularity across the bank.
  • Keep up with innovative architecture best practices and mobile/API enhancements that can be taken advantage of.
  • Work closely with security architecture and security advisory committee to ensure continued adherence to directives and all security practices.
  • Hands on development on highly complex initiatives.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS THAT WILL ENABLE YOU TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE?

  • 15+ years of software engineering industry experience with a minimum of 10 years designing Applications or Solutions/Software Architectures for large, complex enterprise applications.
  • 10+ years designing and developing software solutions for Scotia Digital platforms (Mobile/Web/Micro-services)
  • Knowledge of/or hands-on experience with front end micro apps in: React/Node JS, Next.JS, VUE.JS, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of/or hands-on experience with micro-services development in Spring Boot, Java, Restful API, Node.JS
  • Experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global cloud-based systems. Experience in network infrastructure, security, data, or application development.
  • Advanced knowledge on different architecture/design techniques (e.g., Integration patterns, component-based design), data integration, security integration and infrastructure with a broad technical knowledge on integration and messaging technologies including batch, synchronous, asynchronous technologies
  • Experience designing and implementing public cloud-based applications with experience in either Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and knowledge of enhancing Scotia digital platform’s CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors.
  • Commitment to maintaining a diversified set of skills through continued education and mentoring peers and team members.
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors including defining SLOs, limitations, security assessments, etc. to achieve business goals.
  • Experience with plantuml, mermaid.js, or other architecture as code technologies
  • Experience with creating dataflows, component diagrams, context diagrams, HL architecture diagrams to organize feature requirements
