Responsibilities
  • Technical Expert: Lead the estimation of flood flows using established methodologies in the Flood Estimations Handbook. Develop and check hydraulic models (using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks ICM) to assist the design of flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, river restoration projects or the Environment Agency’s flood maps.
  • Deliver: Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion pound framework contracts. Produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model build and uncertainties in the model build process. Conceptualise and scope modelling and hydrological approaches, with consideration of the risks and opportunities in each.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with our clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to help our clients deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects.
  • Lead: Mentor staff within the team to support their professional development and build relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines.
  • Quality: Keep up-to-date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services. Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to our clients in line with the agreed programme and budget
