Description

Piper Companies is seeking a Principal Full Stack Engineer to join a trusted leader in financial services, known for innovation, scale, and long-term focus for a full-time, remote contract position located in Smithfield, RI. The Principal Full Stack Engineer will be leading the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of scalable full stack solutions while setting technical direction and mentoring engineering teams in a cloud-native, agile environment.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PRINCIPAL FULL STACK ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • 7–10+ years of full stack development experience with multi-tier applications, including Java/JEE, Spring/Springboot, RESTful APIs, Python, SQL/NoSQL, and deployment technologies
  • Expertise in cloud technologies, especially AWS (EKS/ECS, Lambda, SQS, EC2, S3, IAM roles/policies, CloudWatch), with hands-on experience in cloud migration, Terraform (or CloudFormation), and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Proficiency in architecture and systems design, including API development, data modeling, batch processing, workflow automation, and observability using tools such as Datadog, Splunk, and ELK
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, Agile methodologies, CI/CD automation (security, quality testing), Kafka, and front-end frameworks (a plus)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-performance software solutions in an agile environment, ensuring alignment with both functional and non-functional business goals
  • Drive engineering excellence by establishing and mentoring teams on best practices for code quality, architectural design, automation, and operational resilience
  • Partner closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and influence long-term platform strategy
  • Champion DevOps and cloud-native principles by shaping CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code standards, and end-to-end observability
  • Promote a culture of innovation by exploring emerging technologies, guiding proof-of-concepts, and sharing insights across engineering teams
