Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

The Principal Geophysicist, possessing extensive experience in executing advanced geophysical investigations and programs, utilizes sophisticated methodologies to assess subsurface structures and facilitate project advancement. Functioning as a subject matter expert (SME) within a multidisciplinary team, the Principal Geophysicist applies comprehensive geophysical expertise to interpret and analyze data that underpins current development efforts and aligns with the long-term strategic objectives of Denison’s Exploration Department.
This role is being offered as a fulltime position based out of Denison’s regional office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with regular travel to Denison’s remote project sites located in northern Saskatchewan. To be considered for this role, applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee geophysical exploration programs with a primary focus on discovering uranium deposits in the Athabasca basin.
  • Develop, implement, and manage geophysical surveys, including airborne, ground-based, and borehole methods, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform QA/QC, analysis, and interpretation of ground-based geophysical data using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare and condition data for inversion using advanced geophysical software.
  • Generate detailed geophysical interpretations to confidently evaluate and recommend potential drilling targets, guide exploration strategy, and provide technical input to make operational decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, engineers, and other technical specialists, to advance exploration projects from discovery through to feasibility stages.
  • Implement and optimize monitoring systems for new and existing sites based on geophysical principles, generating new insights and opportunities to develop resources in core operating areas.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and operational needs.
  • Stay current with industry literature and advancements in geophysical methods.
  • Provide on-site support and direction for key programs and contractors as required, ensuring deliverables are achieved safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, health and safety standards, and environmental policies during all geophysical operations.
