What We Seek: We seek a Principal to join Raben’s Government Affairs practice to help lead our client teams and engagements. Principals are expected to leverage their contextual knowledge and leadership abilities to serve as ambassadors of this work, internally and externally. Our successful candidates will each have a high degree of initiative, an entrepreneurial spirit, personal resilience, attention to detail, intellectual engagement in government relations, and a concierge-like approach to client services. This position is based in our DC office and offers schedule flexibility, while prioritizing a consistent and meaningful in-office presence to support collaboration and team engagement. Responsibilities: Client Management: Works directly with and successfully serves a broad range of clients, generating impact and raves. Leads or contributes to strategy, responds to requests, manages implementation, and coordinates various aspects of service delivery. Business Development: Contribute to revenue generation through business development, at levels that enable vibrant investment in support staff, internal systems, and change-driving campaigns. This includes proactively building and nurturing a diverse network of relationships, conducting conflict checks on potential new clients, and developing proposals or scopes of work for potential clients while navigating the process to contract. Impact Strategy: Provide strategy, work plan development and team management and other related services in support of successful engagements with an entrepreneurial spirit. Contribute to the organizational goals of the firm’s Government Affairs practice area. Serve as an ambassador for the practice, internally with other practice areas and externally, through public outreach, such as speaking opportunities, writing, teaching, or other thought leadership Other duties as assigned. Requirements Relevant industry experience, including experience working in government/political spaces; work experience on the Hill is necessary. Extensive experience in oversight, investigations, and oppositional research. Ability to utilize knowledge and experience in government and advocacy spaces. Experience interacting with senior leaders in the sectors of relevance and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships. Proven record of producing revenue generating business leads and contracts. Proven ability to develop and implement social impact campaign strategies. A collaborative and relationship-building mindset. Strong writing, layout, and editing skills. Strong oral and written communication skills are a non-negotiable requirement. Candidates must have the demonstrable ability to quickly produce clear, compelling, written collateral. Ability to thrive and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrable project management skills across multiple assignments with many moving parts. Salary Range and Benefits: Our salary range for this role is between $180,000 and $250,000 annually, plus incentives.
