Principal Highway Designer
My client is seeking an enthusiastic Principal Highway Designer with previous design experience (in highway design) to join their growing team and assist in delivering development planning projects across the country.

The role will involve:

  • Preparing preliminary stage highway link and junction designs, active travel corridors, and traffic calming schemes;
  • Producing swept path analysis and vehicle tracking;
  • Input into technical reports including site access appraisals, Stage 1 Road Safety Audit briefs and Designer’s Responses and S278 Preliminary Design Check Submissions; Applicants should have a a good level of experience in the use of AutoCAD and desirably have:
  • Experience in the use of Civil3D;
  • Good knowledge of highway design guidance including MfS, DMRB, and LTN 1/20;
  • Proficient in the use of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions and Traffic Signs Manual;
  • Experience of S278/S38 Agreements;
  • Knowledge of SPONS Civil Engineering and Highway Works;
  • Knowledge of traffic modelling and its influence on highway design;
  • Professional qualifications, i.e. EngTech / IEng / CEng; and
  • ICE / CIHT / CILT membership.

The role provides an opportunity for candidates to be involved in a number of diverse development related transport projects, varying in scale and nature ensuring an interesting workload.
