Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a Principal Highways Engineer to support clients from our Vancouver office. The individual in this position will be responsible for successfully leading and delivering a variety of highway, transportation and roadway projects. You’ll be responsible for engaging and working with our transportation clients in the local public transportation sector, including the province, contractors, and local municipalities to develop strong working relationships and deliver a variety of multi-modal transportation assignments including highways, municipal roadways, and active transportation infrastructure.

As Principal Highways engineer, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
-

Leading the preliminary and detailed design development of transportation projects (roads and highways) in both rural and urban environments.

  • Manage multi-disciplinary design teams for highway and other transportation projects
  • Lead, supervise , and support a talented team of highway professionals to undertake geometric, grading, signage, and pavement marking design, working closely with other design leads to incorporate drainage, utility, geotechnical, environmental, traffic, and structural elements into the overall design.
  • Develop quantity take-offs, design criteria, and design reports throughout various stages of preliminary, functional, and detailed design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians/technologists.

As the qualified candidate, you possess the following skills/qualifications:

B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and BC P.Eng designation

  • 10+ years of highway design experience and a minimum 5-years experience in Canada for public sector clients delivering detailed geometric design.
  • Good working knowledge of MoTI BC and TAC design standards and BC best practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $125,000 - $175,000 CAD.
Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate’s actual salary within the expected range.
