Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of project team leadership in highways design projects.
You will be expected to combine technical responsibilities and project management, promoting a collaborative approach to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • Manage a project team within the major project’s subdivision
  • Aid the project manager in managing the resources to deliver the agreed outcomes for the project
  • Assist the project manager in ensuring that the team have adequate training and resources
  • Support the project manager in managing external resources used by the Highways Team
  • Agree the briefs, programmes and budgets with the project manager
  • Prepare designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables for highways schemes
  • Allocate tasks to other members of the team and monitor progress
  • Monitor the designs produced to ensure they meet the design briefs
  • Ensure designs are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence
  • Seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct them
  • Ensure that the quality system is actively applied to all highways schemes
  • Leading Road Safety Audits: Leading a team of professionals in conducting road safety audits to identify potential safety hazards and risks on roads and highways.
  • Analyzing Data: Analyzing data and information collected during the audit to identify potential safety issues and hazards.
  • Presenting Findings: Presenting the findings of the road safety audit to stakeholders, including clients, government agencies, and other interested parties.
  • Preparing Audit Reports: Preparing detailed reports outlining the findings of the road safety audit, including recommendations for safety improvements.
  • Collaborating with Stakeholders: Collaborating with stakeholders, including road designers, engineers, and government agencies, to ensure that safety recommendations are implemented.
  • Extensive knowledge of RSA stages submission and ITC procedures
