Currently, we’re on the lookout for a Principal Engineer to shape the future architecture and practices of a critical technology domain - The Shipping Platforms. Our mission is to be the preferred eCommerce partner for merchants by offering a comprehensive one-stop solution for all shipping needs. We ensure seamless integrations, easily accessible services, and provide deep visibility through global tracking services for all. Job Description Key responsibilities: Drive the technical architecture across the domain, with a focus on modernization and scalability. Lead the design and implementation of microservices and cloud-native systems. Guide the transition from legacy systems to modern distributed systems. Collaborate with senior stakeholders (EMs, Staff and Principal Engineers, Directors) to align on technology direction. Champion engineering excellence, fostering a culture of autonomy, accountability, and quality. Provide mentorship and leadership across engineering teams. Qualifications Basic qualifications: 10+ years of experience in software engineering and product delivery. Strong background in high-performance distributed systems. Deep expertise in Java and proficiency in modern engineering practices. Excellent communication and analytical skills; fluent English required (Polish is a plus). Proven ability to lead large-scale architecture efforts and mentor senior engineers. Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience designing and delivering cloud-based solutions; familiarity with GCP/AWS/Azure is a must. Ability to lead cloud migration initiatives, define roadmaps, and align stakeholders. Strong understanding of cloud-native patterns (e.g., serverless, autoscaling, resilience). Architecture & System Design: Extensive experience in designing scalable and fault-tolerant microservices architectures. Comfortable transitioning large systems from monoliths to microservices. Familiar with system design patterns, trade-offs, and designing for operational excellence. Hands-on experience with CI/CD, observability (monitoring, logging, tracing), and production readiness practices. Leadership & strategic influence: Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction and architectural guidance across teams and domains. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, and Staff Engineers. Comfortable working independently, making informed decisions in complex and ambiguous environments. Skilled in aligning long-term technical strategy with business priorities and stakeholder needs. Engineering culture & operational excellence: Strong advocate of metrics-driven development, DevOps best practices, and continuous improvement. Experience defining and driving engineering standards, code quality, and performance metrics. Ability to foster a collaborative, feedback-oriented engineering culture.
