MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education :
Masters degree required
Certification :
Special Education endorsement and supervisor approval or the ability to obtain it
Work Experience :
Minimum of five years of experience in a special education field or other position of leadership specifically related to the responsibilities described in this job description. Direct experience working with students with social-emotional needs is preferred.

Skills :

• Provide instructional leadership to ensure the provision of high quality academic and behavioral programming.
• Hire, train, evaluate and supervise professional and support staff.
• Ensure a safe and positive school culture for all students and staff.
• Coordinate professional development and training, with an emphasis on safe and ethical behavior management skills
• Demonstrate expertise with data collection, analysis and progress monitoring.
• Provide effective communication and collaboration with parents, teachers, agencies, and administrators.
• Identify student needs, develop systems of support, and promote the least restrictive environment.
• Track, monitor and lead the prevention and correction of monitoring/compliance issues.
• Establish effective and efficient communication and team processes.
• Perform ongoing analysis of needs and improve the effectiveness of programs and services.
• Provide mediation and conflict resolution.
