Join us and design your place with Stantec.  Your Opportunity Your role as a Principal, Senior Mechanical Engineer is to assist in leading a team of highly skilled Engineers, Engineers in Training, Technologists, Designers and Co-Op staff to successfully execute projects of varying sizes and complexity. The Senior Mechanical Engineer role is also responsible for contributing to the development, mentoring, and coaching of team members using your specialized knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. You will be responsible for aligning and enforcing technical quality for all your deliverables and advance the efficiency and efficacy of all mechanical team members  in Edmonton Alberta. Our clients come from both private and public entities. Some of our project types include new construction and renovation of: * Healthcare * Warehouses, Distribution Centres, Fulfillment Centres, and Parcel Sortation Facilities * Vehicle maintenance facilities for light rail, heavy rail, bus, fleet,  etc. * Municipal and civic buildings * Higher Education/Institution * Science and Technology Your Key Responsibilities * Workload and resource planning with the Industrial Mechanical team, coordinating with the Team Leads and team members – including Engineers, Engineers in Training, Technologists, and Co-Ops. * Engages with other team members and other mechanical staff within the BC to assist with technical development. * Internal leadership in design excellence, coaching, recruitment and retention. * Can lead and assist in the development of single-discipline * Provide fee development and technical writing support for mechanical components of medium to large multi-disciplinary proposals. * Providing technical input and support for large projects of high complexity. * Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all mechanical engineered systems or products for a project. * Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams and other visual formats. * Utilizes BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems and provides markups for junior engineers. * Prepares and revises documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details. * Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. * Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating. * Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. * Participates in constructability review. * Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers. * Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical group. * Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all sizes of projects. * Oversees and manages multiple projects. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
