Wood is currently seeking expressions of interest for a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to manage the mechanical engineering discipline of a major capital works program in Laverton, Victoria.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The ideal candidate would be part of a project delivery team supporting the Senior Project Manager.

THE KEY OBJECTIVES FOR THIS ROLE ARE:

  • Provides technical leadership, managing projects, mentoring teams, and ensuring quality in the delivery of mechanical engineering deliverables
  • Mentors and guides with less experienced engineers
  • Fosters a collaborative and high-performing team environment
  • Ensure designs meet specifications, are cost-effective, reliable, and have a low environmental impact
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards
  • Contributes to design review workshops and quality checks
  • Foster a culture of safe delivery, continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration

  • Minimum 12 years’ direct experience managing projects on major hazards facilities (MHF)
  • Demonstrable experience of embedding safety considerations into all aspects of mechanical engineering and design
  • Proven experience of being directly involved on projects in the chemicals / agricultural sectors
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field)
  • Must be available to work onsite in Laverton, Victori
