Wood is recruiting for Principal Mechanical Engineer - Static to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The Principal Engineer will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.
There is a requirement for hybrid working with Tuesday and Wednesday being based out of any of the following locations – Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. Occasional travel to the client site is also expected as required.
This position will be for a minimum 6 months duration.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including solving complex problems and to complete any project specific tasks.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience with Static equipment and materials such as Valves and skids.

KEY OBJECTIVES FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Definition and approval of technical scopes
  • To assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, products, and equipment
  • Perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems and to complete any project specific tasks
  • Provide technical reviews
  • Make recommendations on project organisation requirements, work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions to problems in own or various engineering disciplines
  • Formulate and direct investigations or prototype, model and system studies, evaluating and interpreting the data obtained and recommending practical application of results
  • Participate in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination requirements
  • Solves problems requiring application of research data
  • Support the Mechanical Engineering Team in deliverables
  • Interface with project construction, commissioning, operations, contractor, and vendor personnel
  • Review of Method Statements and Risk Assessments related to Mechanical Engineering
  • Participation in the coordination meetings, weekly progress and other ad-hoc meetings as required
  • Familiarity with procurement processes – Enquiries, TBE’s and purchase requisitions
