JOB CONTRIBUTION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires driving technical debates, consensus building, and negotiation for success both internally and externally to ensure AT&T’s RAN standardization needs are met. The individual may need to seek and hold leadership positions in relevant international organizations to foster AT&T engagement and objectives. Internally, the candidate will be responsible for fostering collaboration, communicating, and aligning with multiple internal stakeholders in various organizations.
  • Job responsibilities include production and ownership of overarching standards strategies addressing the integration of radio, terminal, core networks, and services into a system view suitable for defining specific near term and long-term standards action plans. Development of technical contributions and position papers (internally and collaboratively with our vendor partners), assessment of vendor and operator marketplace positions and efforts, and authoring of technical white papers are expected functions. Development of intellectual property (patents) for AT&T is encouraged.
  • A strong foundation in wireless physical layer communication theory and digital signal processing and deep understanding of 5G physical layer 3GPP specifications are key requirements. Experience in development of RAN system requirements and evaluation/analysis of new wireless technologies via modeling/simulation is necessary. Application of AI/ML techniques to solve RAN-related problems is also a desirable skill. Prior experience with standardization in 3GPP RAN or O-RAN working groups is a must.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Highly proficient in their ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences, including development of, and partnering with other companies to develop standards proposals and contributions. Excellent people skills to garner support for company positions in standards bodies and industry alliances. Ability to promote good working relationships and develop mutually beneficial strategic standards-related alliances with other companies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
Our Principal Member of Technical Staff, earns between $160,900.00 - $270,400.00 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
