About the roleWe are looking for an experienced Data Strategy & Management Officer who will proactively work as an effective team member in providing a state-wide analysis and reporting function on financial and non-financial information for capital projects and programs across Queensland Health. Additionally, you will proactively support the broader needs of the Department, HIQ, and HHSs in providing strategic insights into the delivery of the Queensland Health capital acquisition program. This role includes the management and maintenance of the Azure SQL environment to ensure optimal performance and data integrity.
Multiple Fixed-Term Temporary, Full-Time opportunity (up to 12 months) in a newly established area, located in Brisbane CBD.
The successful personTo be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and effective communication skills. Specifically, we are looking for someone who has:
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, and implement complex data design, collection, interpretation, analysis, and practical reporting solutions utilising SQL Server, Azure SQL, SharePoint, PowerBI, and other enterprise systems. Knowledge of a data-centric programming language such as Python or R is highly desirable.
Azure SQL Management: Experience in managing and maintaining Azure SQL databases, including monitoring performance, ensuring high availability, and optimising database operations. Proficiency in developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies, as well as ensuring the security and compliance of Azure SQL databases.
Analytical Skills: Proven history of undertaking clear and concise analysis on complex subject matter and converting the analysis into easily understandable presentations, reports, and documents. High-level statistical analysis skills to support decision-making within the organisation.Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to provide technical leadership when engaging with internal and external stakeholders and providers. Ability to work closely with team members and management to problem-solve, plan, and deliver solutions within a complex reporting environment.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: High level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate, and consult with a wide variety of stakeholders, including executive management. Ability to provide training to a diverse range of stakeholders is highly desirable.
Documentation and Standards: Experience in reviewing existing systems for data entry and validation and working towards greater automation to reduce manual input. Contributing to the documentation for analytic exercises, including user guides, metadata, data definitions, and knowledge base articles.Commitment to Quality: Adherence to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality and safe services and workplaces.
The ideal candidate will have a university qualification in ICT or equivalent knowledge via work experience, knowledge of health infrastructure, and experience working within a Government Department. They should also possess highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills and experience in successfully applying them in current or former roles.
