We are seeking a Principal Paint Technician to lead and elevate our paint operations to the next level. About the Role
As the Principal Paint Technician, you will take full ownership of our paint department—managing the team, overseeing operations, and ensuring industry-leading standards are consistently met. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will be instrumental in delivering flawless finishes and ensuring seamless collaboration with fabrication and car build teams.
Your responsibilities will span across scheduling, quality control, process improvement, stock and equipment management, and health & safety compliance. You’ll set and support cost, quality, and delivery targets—leading by example and inspiring a culture of precision, pride, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all refinishing operations, defining methods to meet exacting specifications.
Set and maintain production schedules; support planning and cost estimations.
Operate and manage paint equipment and associated processes to expert standards.
Manage equipment maintenance schedules and support CAPEX identification.
Own the department’s quality sign-off and internal sign-off processes.
Act as the primary liaison for departmental queries and cross-team collaboration.
Administer daily workload planning; adapt in real-time to meet production goals.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Maintain accurate records and oversee departmental documentation.
Champion health & safety practices and facility cleanliness.
Conduct 1-to-1s, performance reviews, and development plans for the team.
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant industry training in paint/panel preparation/fitting (C&G or equivalent).
5+ years in high-performance or luxury automotive paint environments.
2+ years of proven leadership or supervisory experience.
Expertise in both waterborne and solvent-based automotive paints.
In-depth knowledge of surface preparation, colour theory, and finish quality.
Strong planning, workload management, and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.
Key Skills

Strong ability to plan, estimate, and deliver to schedule.
