About Houston-Galveston Area Council The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We work to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive. What will I be doing? Manage day-to-day operation of the Livable Centers program. Provide oversight and guidance to ensure consistency and quality across studies. ü Lead staff on H-GAC’s Livable Centers Program studies and related planning projects that encourage a complementary mix of land uses that are designed to be walkable, connected, and accessible by multiple modes of transportation ü Develop and oversee project scopes of work and budgets ü Provide overall management of consultant contracts for Livable Centers studies ü Build and manage relationships with local Livable Centers current and future partners throughout the H-GAC region ü Identify policies, regulations and best management practices that can advance Livable Centers principles and implementation ü Lead the development of information resources and presentation materials for H-GAC’s Livable Centers Program ü Identify and pursue alternative sources of grants and funding for H-GAC to expand the reach of the Livable Centers Program ü Develop and/or review report content and project recommendations ü Contribute to work/projects of other teams at H-GAC, as applicable Key Qualifications ü Experience working as a planner, including transportation and land use planning ü Strategic planning and/or long-range planning experience ü Ability to build and maintain consensus among stakeholders ü Experience leading facilitation and execution of public engagement activities ü Strong project management, communication, and presentation skills Do you have… ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, or in job related duties
