Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE

This role will lead the Policy team within the Office of the NSW Anti-slavery Commissioner (OASC), supporting the Commissioner by researching, analysing and developing policy advice and solutions to combat modern slavery.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As lead of the OASC’s Policy team, you will identify gaps and opportunities in current policy settings related to modern slavery, and collaborate with key stakeholders (including people with lived experience of modern slavery) to design and implement initiatives to address these.
You will design processes to consult and engage with representatives of government agencies, business, civil society, unions and the survivor community on the OASC’s policy proposals. You’ll also work closely with other members of the OASC team to align policy goals and strategic priorities across our Office.
You’ll research and draft submissions to a wide range of statutory, law reform and parliamentary processes related to modern slavery. You will prepare briefing notes and advice for the Commissioner on strategic policy issues, including social procurement, labour hire regulation, and training for frontline workers.
You will assist the Commissioner and the OASC to prepare for meetings with key stakeholders, public events, and parliamentary proceedings. You’ll also work with the 1800 FREEDOM team to provide confidential support and assistance to survivors of modern slavery who contact our helpline.
You’ll work as part of a small team and be required to manage the provision of high quality policy and law reform advice in a high-volume work environment, in line with the Commissioner’s statutory functions as well as internal and external timelines.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THIS ROLE. WE LOOK FORWARD TO RECEIVING YOUR APPLICATION.
