Description
About Monstro Monstro is the operating system for governed financial intelligence. We build the control layer that allows artificial intelligence to be deployed safely, explainably, and at institutional scale. We exist because the kind of guidance historically reserved for the wealthiest individuals shouldn’t be limited to a small fraction of the world. By combining AI with deep institutional infrastructure, we help financial institutions deliver more personalized, responsible, and life-changing financial support to millions of people — not just a few. We’re a team of builders who care about meaningful problems, high standards, and long-term impact. If you’re motivated by shaping systems that expand access, improve financial outcomes, and redefine how AI is used in regulated industries, you’ll feel at home here. About the Role We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer who is passionate about creating intuitive, impactful, and consumer-focused products that drive adoption, usage, and loyalty. If you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, this role is an exciting opportunity to shape the user experience of a groundbreaking platform. As the Principal Product Designer at Monstro, you will lead the design strategy and execution for our digital wealth platform, focusing on delivering seamless, gamified user experiences that engage and empower our customers. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, turning business goals and user needs into engaging, intuitive experiences that simplify complex financial processes and drive long-term value for our users. What You’ll Do Lead the end-to-end UX design process, from ideation and research to prototyping, testing, and implementation for Monstro’s platform. Develop user personas and journey maps to inform design direction and ensure user-centricity. Design and iterate on high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and user interfaces that prioritize user engagement and adoption. Incorporate gamified design elements that keep users informed, empowered, and inspired to take control of their financial lives. Ensure all visual and interactive elements adhere to Monstro’s brand guidelines for a cohesive, recognizable experience. Stay ahead of industry trends in UI/UX design and gamification, integrating best practices to maintain Monstro’s competitive edge. Collaborate with marketing, product development, and engineering teams to align the visual brand identity and design strategies with overall business objectives. What Success Looks Like Product work moves from plan to release without unnecessary delay. Priorities, scope, and timelines are clear to engineering, design, and leadership. The MVP is delivered, hardened, and used by early customers. Product decisions are made consistently and communicated clearly. The product team operates with a steady cadence and clear ownership. What We’re Looking For 9+ years of experience in UX design, with a strong focus on consumer-facing products and driving user engagement. Expertise in user-centered design processes, working cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders. Strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX design work, including consumer apps, gamified experiences, and consistent brand identity. Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, or equivalent. Passion for innovation and a keen interest in gamification trends and cutting-edge digital design. Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a fast-paced startup environment. Why Monstro? Ownership & Impact: Shape the future of AI-powered finance—building a category-defining product used by consumers and institutions around the world. Elite Team: Join a team with leadership that has a track record of scaling companies from early stage to major exits. Principles-Driven Culture: Work in a culture that values speed, ownership, and impact—what most companies achieve in 90 days, we do in 45. Comprehensive Compensation Package: Competitive salary, equity, and robust benefits package, including paid health, vision, dental, and disability coverage. Compensation Range (New York City): $200,000 - $250,000 *The posted range reflects the base salary for this role across the market ranges for each location.
